Theme:
We invite artists to submit work for Figures in Frame, a portraiture exhibition celebrating a broad interpretation of portraiture. This exhibition is open to all forms of portraiture, including traditional, abstract, self-portraits, and experimental. Artists are encouraged to explore wide-ranging approaches and techniques. Collage, photographic abstraction, diptychs, and triptychs are welcome (each considered as one piece).
Types of Acceptable Portraits:
Traditional Posed Portraits: Classic, formal portraits of the subject.
Environmental Portraits: Portraits where the subject's environment plays an essential role.
Candid Portraits: Spontaneous, emotion-filled moments.
Conceptual Portraits: Creative portraits using props and costumes to communicate deeper meanings.
Abstract Portraits: Artistic interpretations, often distorted, of the subject.
Submission Guidelines:
Eligibility: Open to all photographers, with a special invitation for those based in the NYC area.
Number of Submissions: Each artist may submit up to three images, but only 1-2 will be selected for the exhibition.
Image Size (for submission): Submitted web images must be between 1000 and 3000 pixels on the long side.
Framed Print Size: No minimum size requirement for the framed works, but the maximum size must not exceed 50 inches on either side.
Framing: All works must be hang-ready (framed and ready to hang) upon arrival.
Delivery Deadline: All work must be delivered or arrive by mail no later than Monday, October 7th, 2024. No work will be accepted after this date unless special requests have been made in advance.
Mailed Work: For out-of-town submissions, ensure to include a return shipping label. Your work will be returned in the same box in which it arrived.
Submission Details:
Submit images with dimensions, medium, and year of creation.
No application fee for submitting work.
Accepted artists will be required to pay a $35 fee to cover production, promotion, and installation costs. This fee is due no later than the week of acceptance.
Sales and Compensation:
Sale of work will follow an 80/20 split (80% to the artist, 20% to the gallery).
