VISHUDDHA: PROTECT YA NECK!
A Portraiture Fine Art Group Exhibition
Exhibition Dates:
Opening Reception: Friday, October 25th, 2024, 6:30 PM - 10 PM
Closing Reception: Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, 5 PM - 9 PM
Exhibition Theme:
Vishuddha: Protect Ya Neck! is a portraiture fine art group exhibition that encourages artists and viewers alike to explore how art and self-expression communicate, connect, and safeguard our inner truths. Drawing inspiration from the Wu-Tang Clan’s iconic track "Protect Ya Neck," the show makes a metaphorical connection to the throat chakra (Vishuddha)—the energy center linked to communication, self-expression, and speaking one’s truth.
In a world where expression is often stifled or marginalized, Vishuddha: Protect Ya Neck! stands as a powerful reminder of the need to defend our joy, creativity, and identity. Through a diverse range of portraiture, sculpture, and mixed media, the exhibition highlights how protecting one’s voice and spirit is deeply interconnected with the universal need to speak and live one’s truth.
Curator's Note:
This exhibition is about more than joy—it’s about defending who we are at our core. Through the energy of the throat chakra, Protect Ya Neck! invites artists to speak their truth, celebrate their joy, and defend their voices from those who would try to silence them. Through art, we find strength, resilience, and connection.

Doors of Perception: Group Exhibit
“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.” ― William Blake, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell
Doors, windows, and framing have been used in art not only as a compositional device, but as a means of guiding the viewer toward transformational portals. Your work should address such a device as well as the complex dynamic of “Voyeur and Viewed.”
Artist inspirations for this show include Vermeer, Lois Dodd, Bacon, Hilma af Klimpt, Hopper, Rauschenberg, Rothko, and Serra. Framing and portals may be more apparent in their appearance and depiction or may be abstract. Accompanying your artwork submission, please include a short poem or creative writing description of 3 sentences or less describing how your work touches on these concepts. Your written piece will be shared alongside your work, included in an artifact distributed at the show, and may be used in online promotional materials including Instagram collaborations.
Co-Curators @darren_singer_finearts and @mimi.pinnow are excited to bring you into a sensory experience that you will not forget; all senses will be aroused via the Bioregenerative Experience. #bioregenerativeaesthetic
